Timeline

From Start to Finish

Keep track of the RoboFetz season schedule, prepare for upcoming milestones, and stay one step ahead! Find all the key details you need right here in one place.

1. Info Evening

The Info Evening marks the official kick-off to each RoboFetz season. We strongly encourage everyone interested to attend! You’ll get all the essential details on how to participate, and we’ll make sure all your questions are answered.

2. Workshops

First-timer? No problem! The workshops teach you all the crucial skills you need to build a successful robot. From wiring the electronics and 3D-printing custom parts to hands-on assembly, we cover it all!

3. E-Kit Handout

Around December we will distribute the electronics kits to all teams! It includes all the essential components you need to get up and running smoothly and turn your creative ideas into reality.

4. Build Your Bot

Design your own robot, with hands-on support during our regular build nights! We share valuable tips, tricks, and lessons learned from past tournaments. The mandatory safety & technical inspection of all robots takes place one week prior to the event.

5. Main Event

In a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere, all teams compete against each other in 1-on-1 duels to battle for the championship title. Dedicated pit areas are available on-site, allowing builders to repair, optimize, and fine-tune their robots between matches to best prepare for the next challenge.

Master the Fundamentals

Workshops

To give all participants the best possible starting ground, we have created a series of dedicated workshops. They are designed to teach all the essential fundamentals and practical skills required to build your own robot. Prepared by our tutors and updated every year, these sessions guide you through the entire process. You can find further details in the respective course descriptions in our schedule.

Everyone is warmly welcome to attend, no prior experience is required! The workshops cover the following topics:

3D-Printing

You will learn how to work with 3D printing software and gain valuable tips on how to print your robot so it is truly arena-ready.

E-Kit Handout

Electronics

This workshop covers the electronic components used in our robots and introduces the essential tools needed for assembly, especially, the soldering iron.

Combat Robotics

From initial design and assembly to driving practice and exhibition matches: practical workshops will walk you through everything required to succeed in the competition.

Rules & Regulations

In this workshop, we provide a comprehensive overview of the judging guidelines, the event schedule, and the official rulebook.

Handouts

Electronics-Kit

Specially designed to lower the barrier to entry, our kit covers all the core electronics needed for the drive system and weaponry. This allows your team to focus entirely on the design, construction, and optimization of your robot.

Build Nights

Our weekly build nights take place at the Fachschaft Maschinenbau, where teams work side by side on their robots while exchanging tips, tricks, and advice.

Alongside experienced mentors and access to workshop tools, you can get hands-on support with 3D modeling and mechanical design. Whenever you run into technical questions or challenges, our team is right there on site to help you troubleshoot. The evening offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere to tinker, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.

It’s the ideal space to turn your concepts into reality and continuously optimize your robot!

Guidelines & Judging

Official Rulebook

The goal of the RoboFetz event is to provide a thrilling, fair and safe experience for students of TU Wien. For this reason, several technical and safety guidelines are in place that all teams and their robots must comply with. The organizers reserve the right to permit or mandate deviations from the rulebook in special, justified cases.

Regelwerk

Here, we outline the fundamental requirements for participating in RoboFetz. How much can a robot weigh? What technical specifications must it meet, and which materials and weapon systems are permitted? The rulebook ensures fair conditions, thrilling competition, and the safety of everyone involved.

Judges Guide

A match lasts for 3 minutes but can end early by knockout. If there is no knockout after 3 minutes, the match will go to a judges’ decision. A panel of judges will score the match based on specific criteria, including Damage, Aggression, and Control. Full details on the scoring system can be found in the official judges’ guide.

Safety

Our safety guidelines establish clear rules for handling robots, weapons, tools, and the arena. Following these rules guarantees that everyone can battle in the arena and perform repairs in the pits under secure conditions. Safety is always our top priority!
